Azerbaijan in One Journey: Gobustan, Mud Volcanoes and Eternal Fire

Join us on an exciting journey beyond Baku, where in one day you will discover ancient rock carvings, unusual natural landscapes and places connected with Azerbaijan’s ancient fire-worshipping traditions.

Our first stop is the Gobustan State Historical and Cultural Reserve. Among its ancient rocky landscapes are thousands of rock carvings created thousands of years ago. You will see scenes of hunting, animals, people and ancient boats depicted by prehistoric inhabitants of the region.

We will then continue to the famous mud volcanoes, one of Azerbaijan’s most fascinating natural phenomena. Small craters release cool mud and natural gas, creating a truly unusual landscape and excellent opportunities for photographs.

Next, we will visit Ateshgah Fire Temple, a historic site associated with ancient fire-worshipping traditions. You will learn about Zoroastrianism and the important role that natural flames once played in the spiritual life of the Absheron Peninsula.

Our next stop is Yanar Dag — the “Burning Mountain”, where natural gas rises from beneath the earth and creates a continuous flame on the hillside.

During the tour, we will take a break for lunch at a fish restaurant by the Caspian Sea. You can relax, enjoy fresh fish and local dishes, and take in the beautiful sea view.
